The Ring Story

Two hundred classes have left their mark since 1824, and so it is time to leave ours. In May 2007, we will proudly join the illustrious alumni of Rensselaer. A commemorative symbol of our journey together is captured by the thoughtful design of our class ring. Each element of the ring brings to life memories significant to the Class of 2007.

The ring designed by the Class of 1907 greatly influenced our design. The intertwined RPI lettering that appeared on the 1907 ring has been placed on our 2007 ring. We are reminded of the bond Rensselaer has created for us not only with the class of 2007, but will all alumni.

Further, the Rensselaer Union has been a place of common interest since its conception in 1955 and thus reserves a well-deserved place on our class ring. The Union is a center of unity, a center of solidarity, and a place where students can hang out, study and kick back. We will not soon forget the long group meetings and homework sessions that have taken place there over the years.

Rensselaer is not only a place to acquire professional skills, but also a place to express spirit. Puckman represents our everlasting support for athletics. Participation in the GO BE RED school spirit incentive is just one example of our undying support.

The 15th Street Footbridge is similar to the Union in that it is a physical structure that holds symbolic significance. As we cross over into the academic side of campus every day, we come closer and closer to realizing our future career and personal goals. The Footbridge has become a comforting sight after a long day of classes, outstretching her arms, beckoning us home. The Footbridge remains the link between academic and residential life at Rensselaer.

Lastly, the Approach has long been a “gateway” to the world. It serves as a visual reminder that there is so much we have to offer our communities as we venture forth from Rensselaer. We came to Rensselaer with different backgrounds, but we will be forever linked.

Go out into this world and show your Rensselaer pride and never lose the bond that we all share with past alumni and with Rensselaer!
